Working Principle

  • The submersible slurry pump by OCEAN Pump is designed with the pump and motor axially installed, fully submerged. The impeller, driven by centrifugal force, draws in and accelerates slurry for smooth discharge, with its special structure reducing resistance and enhancing efficiency.

3.1 Pump Casing

  • Made of high – chrome alloy for durability, the pump casing’s size is optimized for the impeller. Its bottom filter plate has flexible designs like filtering devices or extended nozzles, and its outlet connects to a rubber hose for slurry discharge.

3.2 Impeller

  • Manufactured from high – strength, wear – resistant alloy, the impeller uses centrifugal force to draw in slurry. OCEAN Pump offers open and semi – open impeller structures, and the semi – open one can handle 60mm solid particles for high – wear applications.

3.3 Power System

  • There are two power systems: an electric motor inside the pump casing with waterproof design to drive the impeller, and a hydraulic drive suitable for high – power and deep – submerged pumps, providing stable power underwater.

3.4 Seal Device

  • Small pumps use one mechanical seal and large ones 2 – 3 for effective sealing. OCEAN Pump also equips the pump with water inlet protection to shut down the system in case of water ingress for safety.

3.5 Control System

  • Equipped with an advanced control system for monitoring and controlling the pump’s operation, OCEAN Pump often recommends a variable frequency control cabinet for customized solutions, which can regulate flow and head and has protection mechanisms.

How To Choose

4.1 Determining Project Parameters

  • Gather data on the slurry type (sediment, slurry, wastewater etc.), desired flow rate, and provide both mixed flow rate and solids content data for the submersible slurry pump project.

4.2 Obtaining Performance Curves

  • Performance curves show the flow – rate – head relationship. Contact Lingda Kong of OCEAN Pump via WhatsApp (+86 185 6229 3317) or email (sales@slurrypumpdm.com) for relevant documentation. OCEAN Pump tests each pump and provides performance curve graphs and acceptance certificates.

4.3 Determining the Flow Rate

  • Locate the project – required flow rate data point on the performance curve. Flow rate is usually measured in m³/h or GPM. Provide sand production rate, and OCEAN Pump’s tech staff can estimate the mixed flow rate.

4.4 Determining the Head

  • Supply horizontal distance, vertical distance, and extraction depth for slurry transport. OCEAN Pump’s tech staff will use software to calculate the required head and find the corresponding point on the performance curve.

4.5 Verification of Compatibility

  • After selecting flow rate and head values, verify their compatibility with the performance curve. OCEAN Pump’s team calculates shaft power based on multiple parameters, determines power range, and recommends pump models with sufficient margin for stable operation.
